Imagine a local bookstore — or library or even just a group of neighbors — decided to get together with a mission to put books into the hands of hesitant readers or those who might not have access to reading materials. That’s the premise behind World Book Night, a worldwide event that began in the U.S. in 2012.
For 2014, two York County bookstores will participate as host sites: The York Emporium in downtown York, and Irvin’s Books in West Manchester Township.
Interested givers can contact either store to sign up, then choose a book from the 2014 list of titles.
WBN will deliver 20 copies of each giver’s chosen books to the host site, and givers are encouraged to head out into the community April 23, 2014, to hand out copies to community members, focusing on underserved areas or folks who might not normally have access to books.
Questions? Call Irvin’s at 717-843-2947 or the Emporium at 717-846-2866.
